Run, Jump, Throw: Athletics-Based Program for Primary School Children

The Run, Jump, Throw program is designed to introduce primary school-aged children to the exciting world of athletics while helping them build fundamental movement skills that are essential for all sports and physical activities. By focusing on the basics of running, jumping, and throwing, children not only improve their coordination, balance, and speed, but also have fun and develop essential life skills that extend beyond sports.

Program Overview:

The Run, Jump, Throw sessions offer a supportive and encouraging environment where children can learn the core elements of athletics. The program helps children develop confidence, work on their physical fitness, and participate in fun, engaging activities that promote teamwork and social skills.

Core Focus Areas:
Running:
Speed & Endurance: Activities like sprints, relay races, and obstacle courses help children improve their running speed and stamina.
Running Technique: Introduce proper posture and stride mechanics to ensure efficient running, while keeping it fun and interactive.

Jumping:
Jumping for Distance & Height: Through activities like long jump and vertical jump, children will work on explosive power, balance, and coordination.
Agility & Flexibility: Various jumping exercises will also help develop agility and flexibility, which are vital for sports like football, basketball, and gymnastics.

Throwing:
Throwing for Accuracy & Distance: Activities include shot put, javelin (with foam or soft materials), and mini-discus throwing to help develop hand-eye coordination and upper body strength.
Throwing Techniques: Children learn how to grip, aim, and throw objects effectively, which are essential skills for many other sports (e.g., baseball, tennis).
